Two trains at Petronas' Bintulu LNG plant offline due to production issues

Petronas' Bintulu liquefied natural gas complex in Malaysia is experiencing issues at two of its production trains which are offline as a result, two industry sources said on Monday.

One of the sources said Trains 1 and 5 will be offline until May 27 to fix an equipment leak.

Petronas did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Bintulu complex in the state of Sarawak on Borneo island is Petronas' flagship LNG facility, with nine production trains and an annual production capacity of 29.3 metric MMtpy.

Malaysia was the world's fifth-largest LNG exporter last year, according to data from Kpler, shipping out 28 MMt of the super-chilled fuel mainly to buyers in Japan, China and South Korea.
