Shell expects Pearl GTL plant to restart by end-March 2027

Shell expects its Pearl gas-to-liquids plant in Qatar to be running again by the end of the first quarter of 2027 if shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz are open, CEO Wael Sawan said.

Production at Pearl GTL was halted in March after an attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City damaged one of the facility's two trains, and Shell previously said repairs could take about a year. Qatari LNG assets will be easier to restart than Pearl GTL, Sawan added.
