EIA: Natural gas electricity generation in Pennsylvania (U.S.) doubles in 10 yr

Electricity generation using natural gas has more than doubled in Pennsylvania since 2013, driven by a shift toward clean energy, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.
Last October, more than 57% of the state's electricity was generated through natural gas, compared with 26% in October 2013, according to the government agency.
Natural gas-fired generation hit a record monthly high of 15.3 MM megawatt hours (MWh) in Pennsylvania in July 2024, as heatwaves led to peak electricity demand in some parts of the U.S., the EIA said.
