Argentina's YPF nears 20 MMt of LNG deals in Asia, Europe
Argentina's state-run energy firm YPF has tied up supply deals for up to 15 MM tonnes (t) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for buyers in Asia, the country's cabinet chief said on Tuesday, as the South American nation looks to boost energy exports.
In a post on social media platform X, Guillermo Francos, cabinet chief in libertarian President Javier Milei's government, also hinted at an additional 4 MMt in LNG sales to European buyers that would be unveiled in coming weeks.
He did not name the potential European buyers but said that the commercial agreements in Asia would translate into some $7 B annually for Argentina in LNG exports.
Last week, YPF signed a memorandum of understanding with three Indian firms to potentially export up to 10 MMt of LNG annually in a deal that also covered cooperation in lithium, critical minerals, plus oil and gas projects.
