Direct Energie completes Belgium's Marcinelle Energie buy
PARIS (Reuters) -- French alternative energy supplier Direct Energie said on Friday it had completed the acquisition of Belgium's Marcinelle Energie, the operator of a 400 megawatt (MW) capacity gas-fired plant, from Italy's Enel.
Direct Energie said the deal was cash funded and amounts to an enterprise value of about $38.5 million.
It added that the transaction will not impact its 2016 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization.
The acquisition of Enel's Belgian subsidiary, which operates a plant in the town of Charleroi, takes the French company's installed power generation capacity to 800 MW.
Direct Energie is building another 400 MW gas-fired plant in northern France and it is a candidate to take over some of French state-controlled utility EDF's hydropower plants.
Direct Energie is on course to reach its target of 2 million customers and is aiming for 3 million by 2018.
