Chevron to resume exports from Gorgon LNG plant

Chevron Gorgon LNG Jetty 2

After more than three months of downtime, the Barrow Island LNG plant has begun startup activities and will resume LNG production soon, according to a Chevron Australia spokesperson.  The plant shut down due to a technical fault after shipping its first cargo on March 21.

Five cargoes are expected to ship in July. The first of these is expected to ship on July 1 via the Marib Spirit tanker.

Initially, gas exports were to begin near the end of 2014, but the project has suffered from multiple setbacks, including a construction delay of almost 18 months. Delays from the recent technical fault have also surpassed the original 30-60 day estimate by Chevron.
