Argent LNG asks DOE for permission to export 25 MM tonnes of U.S. LNG

Argent LNG, which is developing a 25-metric MMtpy liquefied natural gas facility in Louisiana (U.S.), applied to the Department of Energy (DOE) on Wednesday for permission to export LNG to countries with and without free trade agreements with the U.S, according to a regulatory filing.
Argent LNG wants to get to a final investment decision on the project within two years while the Trump administration is still in office, a company spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The company has a heads of agreement (HOA) with Turkish energy bourse Enerji Piyasalari Isletme AS to move 5 MM tonnes of LNG through Europe.
Argent also has a 5-metric MMtpy HOA with the government of Bangladesh to supply it with the superchilled gas.
Argent is entering non-binding HOAs rather than binding sales and purchase agreements because it is easier to adjust them when the company gets to the FID stage, the company spokesperson said.
