Egypt imported 17 shipments of LNG in Q1/fiscal year 2018-2019 worth $500M

CAIRO,  (Reuters) - Egypt imported 17 shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the first quarter of fiscal year 2018-2019 worth $500 million, Petroleum Ministry spokesman Hamdi Abdelaziz said.

Egypt said on Saturday it will stop importing natural gas after its final liquefied shipments arrived last week.

The country will save $1.5 billion yearly by no longer importing LNG, Abdelaziz added.

Egypt imported 76 LNG shipments in 2017-2018 worth $1.8 billion. (Reporting by Amina Ismail Editing by Raissa Kasolowsky)
