UOP Russell Cryogenic Gas Plant exceeds nameplate performance

L.A. Turbine (LAT) announced that its L3000 turboexpander-compressor in a UOP Russell cryogenic natural gas processing plant in Eddy County, New Mexico has exceeded its designed 200MMSCFD flowrate by 10 percent.

The skid-mounted LAT 575EC turboexpander includes a seal gas system and local programmable logic controller (PLC) unit. The turboexpander-compressor is designed for operational flexibility with a wide operating range, no speed limitations, and end-users have the ability to reduce or slightly increase the capacity to suit varying operating conditions. The structurally robust design of the expander wheel and guide vanes also contribute to the unit’s ability to exceed its flowrate capacity. As gas throughput changes, this operational and performance flexibility improves the overall reliability, efficiency, and safety of the equipment and plant.

UOP Russell modular gas processing plants include skid-mounted, pre-engineered modular equipment that is factory-built to precise specifications. Several UOP Russell modular gas processing plants feature LAT turboexpanders for gas processing and natural gas liquid (NGL) recovery. L.A. Turbine turboexpanders are designed, manufactured, assembled and tested at the company’s California headquarters. As a result, LAT can deliver a faster-to-market equipment solution to UOP Russell, andoperators can benefit from faster installation and commissioning, and earlier revenue generation.
