Shell: An exciting time for floating LNG projects
As reported by Shell’s LNG Outlook 2017, the future LNG demand growth will be driven by: policy, floating storage regasification units (FSRUs), replacing declining domestic gas production, small-scale LNG and transport. As natural gas is fundamental to the energy transition, companies are welcoming FLNG, which have a smaller environmental footprint.
Shell’s Prelude FLNG is the largest offshore floating facility ever built; being able to hold the same amount of liquid to 175 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Once in operation the project will deliver LNG to customers worldwide.
Gastech Insights spoke to Shell’s GM – Global Gas & LNG Development, Jefferson Edwards to discover how the revolutionary project is developing and where they see the industry heading in the next 10 years.
