Libya resumes gas pipeline exports to Italy after technical problem
TUNIS (Reuters) — Libya’s gas exports to Italy were flowing on Monday, data showed, after Libyan state oil company NOC said it had stopped flows due to a technical issue.
NOC said in a statement exports had been halted on Sunday after an outage in supplies of gas in a feeder pipeline running from the offshore Sabratha platform to the Mellitah complex, which is jointly run with Italy’s Eni.
Gas flows had resumed to normal levels after four hours of interruption, it added.
According to data on the website of Italian gas transport group, gas from Libya flowed into Italy on Monday at an average rate of 0.3337 MMcm per hour. On Sunday the flow rate 0.1809 MMcm per hour.
Gas is pumped from Mellitah to Italy.
Gas supplies had been diverted during the interruption to the national grid to avoid power outages, NOC said.
