Russia's Gazprom delays completing China gas pipeline work to 2024
MOSCOW (Reuters) — Russian gas giant Gazprom has delayed completion of all the works associated with a gas pipeline to China, known as Power of Siberia, until 2024 from 2022, the company’s documents showed on Wednesday.
But the firm still aims to start initial deliveries of gas to China via the pipeline in December 2019.
Total annual gas supplies through the pipeline are expected to peak at 38 Bcm several years after the launch.
Gazprom declined to offer further immediate comment on the delay.
Gazprom also said on Wednesday it had increased the 2017 investment outlays for the pipeline to 209.9 B roubles ($3.6 B) from a previously planned 158.8 B roubles.
The investment for the TurkStream pipeline to Turkey via the Black Sea for this year was more than doubled to 92.8 B roubles from 41.9 B roubles.
Gazprom has raised total 2017 investments by $3.7 B from the initial plans.
