No injuries in fire at Petronas’ LNG plant in Bintulu

A transformer caught fire in Substation No. 42 at Petronas’ LNG complex in Bintulu over the weekend. After the fire was detected, Malaysia LNG’s (MLNG) First Intervention Team responded to the situation immediately.

The fire was extinguished quickly, and there were no injuries from the incident. MLNG released a statement that neither the environment nor the public would be affected by the incident. Normal operations resumed after safety and integrity checks were completed. It is assumed at this time that LNG production will be unaffected.

MLNG has launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.
