Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegas, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, has breached the 95% mark in its utilization of associated petroleum gas (APG). This level was achieved through the commissioning of a (200 million cubic meter) 200 MMm3-capacity, gas-boosting compressor station at the Novogodny field, Purovsky district, Yamalo-Nenetsk Autonomous Okrug, Russia. The compressor unit provides initial treatment and compression of APG at the first level of separation, as well as the subsequent transportation to the main Gazprom Neft trunk pipeline network.

To ensure the greatest possible level of APG utilization at the Novogodny field, more than 10 km of high-pressure pipeline have been laid, and two reciprocating (piston) compressor units within the gas compressor unit have been refurbished. The Novogodny field is the second successive Gazprom Neft asset to be brought into production on the basis of commercial flaring.

Anton Gladchenko, head of the Gazprom Neft Energy and Gas Directorate, said, “We continue to investigate and implement viable technologies to further increase APG utilization levels at all current and potential assets. We are trying to minimize man-made impacts and improve environmental conditions throughout all of the regions in which we operate.”

The average daily consumption of APG at Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz is 7.3 MMm3/day. Of this, 5.4 MMm3/day is supplied as feedstock to gas processing facilities at SiburTyumenGaz JSC (the Vyngapurovsk and Muravlenko gas processing plants); 0.6 MMm3/day enters the export pipeline system for onward transportation via the Gazprom gas network; and 1.3 MMm3/day is used for the plant’s own internal requirements.
