GTT gets order from Hyundai for two large LNG carriers for Hyproc

GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz), a world leader in the design of membrane containment systems for the maritime transportation and storage of LNG, confirms an order for two large LNG carriers (LNGCs).

The two ships will be built by the Korean shipbuilder HHI (Hyundai Heavy Industries). Both are in the company's third-quarter 2014 order book.

The LNGCs are expected to be delivered between 2016 and 2017 and will be built with the innovative Mark III flex membrane technology, which allows an optimized daily boil-off rate of cargo LNG.

These vessels will be owned by the Algerian shipping company Hyproc, which has been operating GTT-designed LNG carriers since 1971 and reaffirms regularly its trust in GTT membrane systems.

"HHI and Hyproc are two long-term partners," said Philippe Berterottière, CEO of GTT.

"We are delighted to see that these companies have chosen, once again, membrane containment solutions for their new buildings."
