Installing new equipment to meet such requirements is not always viable on a live, operational site due to cost, disruption to ongoing operations and the need to minimize plant shutdowns. Here, the approach taken by Perenco UK (PUK) in meeting the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Ozone Depleting Substances Directives’ “Montreal Protocol”1 is outlined, as well as how PUK successfully avoided installing new process units.
